Great White Shark Diving
Great White Shark cage diving is one of the “must do’s” for any tourist when visiting Cape Town.
We are ideally situated in Simonstown, only 40 min from Cape Town.
There is no better way to see the great white shark in their own natural environment, than to cage dive with these super predators.
False Bay is famous for the great white “flying sharks”, a term used for their highly athletic breaching and hunting behaviour by great white sharks.
The great white shark is a very curious animal and will often circle and come up to the cage, as if to get a “personal” look at the diver. This will certainly get your heart rate going and most definitely an adrenalin rush.
The cage floats just under the surface of the water, and it is situated along side the boat. Once the diver or snorkeller is ready to take the plunge, we will assist the diver into the opening at the top of the cage, and into the water. Scuba diving is much better, as you can stay for longer at the bottom of the shark cage. NO DIVE QUALIFICATION IS NECESSARY . Our air tanks stay on board. Only the scuba hose enters the cage, allowing you to enjoy a great dive without cumbersome, heavy tanks and gear. As we run small groups, you get to spend a decent amount of time in the cage. We provide all the gear that you need but if you have your own bring it along. Shark cage diving is truly a wonderful way to get up close and personal with one of the most magnificent ocean creatures, the Great White Shark. We have a spacious shark cage and only dive 2 persons at a time, unlike other operators who dive up to 6 at a time, allowing you a quality dive. The average dive time is 20-30 minutes depending on the shark activity. Once everyone has had a go, then a second dive is allowed for those interested in shark diving again. Our crew is highly trained and safety is of our utmost importance. The experience of diving with the sharks will have a lasting impact on you, and I hope a deeper respect and awe for these endangered super predators - the great white shark |
